Activities and Events in and around New Quay

New Quay is best known as an excellent base for seeing the famous Dolphins of Cardigan Bay. At any time of day, there are people on the pier watching the Dolphins - or waiting for them to re-appear. Boat trips from the Pier in the summer take groups along the coast to see not only the Dolphins, but the Grey Seals and the seabird colonies on the spectacular cliffs of the Bay. The Cardigan Bay Watersports Centre - based in New Quay, offers dinghy sailing, power boating, windsurfing and kayaking.

The newly completed Ceredigion Coastal path provides walkers with amazing scenery and wildlife, with rare species including the Chough, Peregrine Falcon and Raven.

Dylan Thomas lived in New Quay and the 'Dylan Thomas Trail' highlights the places that inspired his writing.

Dolphin watching

Cardigan Bay is home to one of the largest populations of Bottlenose Dolphins in British waters and the pier at New Quay is one of the best places to see them. Boat trips are available throughout the season from the pier.

The Dylan Thomas Trail

Many  believe that New Quay is the 'cliff-perched town at the far end of Wales' immortalised by Dylan Thomas  in 'Under Milk Wood'. Dylan Thomas lived  in New Quay in 1944 in a little house called 'Majoda' atop the cliffs opposite the town. The Dylan Thomas Trail takes the visitor to many of the places  frequented by Thomas. The Coastal Path

From New Quay, you can walk on the coastal path to the south towards Cwmtydu and Llangrannog and eventually link up with the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. To the north, the path passes through Aberaeron en route to Aberystwyth and ends at The Dyfi Estuary National Nature Reserve at Ynyslas, near Borth.
